Embattled Ondo Monarch who was chased out of palace for not participating in Ijesu Festival narrates ordeal

Embattled Ondo Monarch, the Alara of Ilara- Mokin,Oba Aderemi Abiodun Adefehinti in Ifedore local government area of Ondo state who was recently chased out of the palace by his subjects has opened up about what led to the crisis.

 The monarch who was admitted in the hospital with his queen  after the attack, said the crisis was caused by what could be termed as communication gap.

Oba Aderemi was attacked and chased  out of the palace with his queen following his refusal to participate in the annual traditional rites of New Yam festival (Odun Ijesu).

The monarch  was rescued from the irate youths in the town on Saturday 13 September, 2019 and was taken to an undisclosed hospital in Akure alongside his queen for medical treatment.

His words, “the  celebration started well from the temporary palace but was hijacked by the irate youths when they realized that I was not in the crowd leading the dancing aspect (of the festival). 

“My queen and some innocent individuals including chiefs were hit by the stones throw by the irate youths; part of the palace was torched; while several windows and the main entrance glass door were broken”

Oba Adefehinti ascended the throne 21years ago, said the police were not involved in order not to escalate the matter.
