My desperation for a male child pushed me to steal a two month old baby.
A 39-year-old woman , Mercy Momoh who allegedly stole a two-month-old baby in Ado-Ekiti has attributed her desire to have a male child for her action
Momoh, who hails from Edo state, was apprehended by policemen on Saturday at her residence at Odo-Aremu area, along old governor’s office in the state capital.
The woman allegedly stole the baby from her mother, Mrs Funmilayo Sunday on Friday around 1pm at the State Secretariat.
The suspect, it was learnt tricked the baby’s mother, Funmilayo Sunday, to follow her to the State Secretariat under the guise to help collect some relief materials being given by government to flood victims.
While being interrogated, the suspect said, “I stole the baby because I am desperate to have a son.
” My husband wants to marry another wife who will give him a male child but in order not allow this to happen, I decided to steal the baby from the woman “
The command spokesperson, Caleb Ikechukwu, who confirmed the arrest to journalists on Saturday in Ado-Ekiti, said investigation is still on going to unravel the proper situation.
