Just in: Gunmen abduct two NSCDC officials

  Two officials of the Nigerian Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC) have been abducted by unknown gunmen.

The duo were on their way to Benin city, the state capital from Edo North Area Command  before they were kidnapped.

They were identified as Francis Okunwe the Area Commander of the Edo North Area Command and Chief Superintendent of Corps (CSC) Albert Egauvoen, the Divisional Officer of Irrua.

The two officials, according to sources from NSCDC  took off through Igueben due to the bad state of the Benin-Auchi-Okenne Highway.

They  were attacked at Ewosaa before Ekpon near Ebele in Igueben local government area.

The source added that the attack happened at about 2 pm and the Toyota Sienna van they were travelling in has been recovered from where it was abandoned.

Edo state Commissioner of Police, Danmallam Mohammed, confirmed the incident to and said a combined operation of security agencies in the state were being out in place to apprehend the abductors
