Ahead of the 2020 election, the opposition Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) says it will ensure a free and credible governorship primary poll for its aspirants by giving room for all delegates to choose the party’s standard bearer.
The party said it parades an array of credible aspirants who are far better than that of the All Progressives Congress in the state.
The state chairman of PDP, Clement Faboyode, who stated this in Akure, the state capital on Monday, said a total of 17 aspirants have shown interest to contest for party’s governorship ticket .
Faboyede explained that the PDP had already put a credible machinery in place to ensure a transparent primary election for all its aspirants.
“Our party parades an array of vibrant aspirants, totalling 17 in number as at now, and they are ready to contest in the election.
“The delegates will be given opportunity to choose the best among the arrays of these credible aspirants.
“And the worst of our aspirants is better than the best of the APC in terms of capacities and ability to deliver good governance.
According to Faboyede, the PDP will not zone it ticket to any senatorial to prevent rancour in the party.
Earlier,National vice chairman,South West of the PDP, Eddy Olafeso said he was at the secretariat to announce his intention to run for the number one seat of the state due to the respect he had for the state working executive.
