Breaking: Buhari seeks Senate approval of NDDC board amidst protests

Despite various protests, President Muhammadu Buhari has sought the confirmation of the Senate for appointment of Pius Odubu as Chairman for the Niger Delta Development Commission (NDDC).

Many States and groups had kicked against the list when it was released some months ago.

The President also sought the confirmation of Bernard Okumagba as Managing Director, Otobong Ndem, Executive Director Projects,  Maxwell Okoh as Executive Director Finance & Admin and twelve others as state representatives of the commission.

This was contained in a letter sent to President of the Senate,Ahmad Lawan which was read on the floor at plenary.

He appealed to lawmakers to give necessary support that would ensure smooth screening and confirmation of the nominees.


However, the Senate referred it to its committee on NDDC giving a deadline of one week for its report.

In a similar letter read by the President of the Senate, Buhari also requested the Senate to confirm the appointment of three Resident Electoral Commissioners (RECs).
