Appoint more women into government position- Minister of women affairs tells Akeredolu, other governors

Minister of Women Affairs, Dame Pauline Tallen has hinged the successful implementation of three-point agenda of the Federal Government on the appointment of more women into government positions.

Tallen said the next level agenda of the All Progressives Congress(APC) can only be achieved if more women are appointed into government positions

Speaking in Akure, the Ondo State capital when she paid a courtesy visit to Governor Oluwarotimi Akeredolu SAN of Ondo State ahead of the 19th National Council of Women Affairs and Social Development said the meeting was to discuss matters that affect women, children, the elderly and as it affects the country at large.

The minister said she believed at the end of the meeting, tangible solutions to issues affecting the role of women in government and society would be reached.

She called on governments at all levels to involve more women in their cabinet.

Tallen later thanked the government of Ondo State for making hosting the 19th edition of the conference.

In his remarks, Akeredolu who was represented by his Deputy, Hon Agboola Ajayi,said the state government was offering its maximum support to advocate for the well being of women in the society

Akeredolu assured the delegation of the state government’s maximum support to foster gender equality and protection of the girl child.

He said his government was doing many things to to ensure fright of children and the physically challenged people were not abused

The reports that the National Council of Women Affairs and Social Development holds a yearly conference in the country.

This year’s event has as it’s theme; Gender Equality and Social Inclusion: A Panacea for Peace Security and Sustainable Development in Nigeria.
