The Standard Organisation of Nigeria (SON) has destroyed fake and substandard goods worth several millions of naira in Akure, the Ondo State capital.
Some of the goods destroyed were: LPG popularly refers as cooking cylinders, automobile spare parts, cassava flour, transmission fluids and tyres.
The state coordinator of SON, Mr Gabriel Agafie who supervised the destruction of the goods, said the substandard and expired products were threats and injurious to human health.
Agafie advised Nigerians to always check the certification and expiry date of products before buying them.
He said, ” You are advised to look out for the MANCAP logo for manufactured products for Nigeria use and the SON logo for Nigerian products produced for foreign countries”
