Youths in Ibule, a community in Ifedore Local Government Area of Ondo State have kicked against plan to impose a particular candidate as the new monarch of the community.
The aggrieved youths demonstrated their anger via a peaceful protest to the office of the Local Government Chairman in Ifedore.
Led by Adewale Adelegan, the protesters expressed worry over recent happenings in the community.
He alleged that some powerful individuals have perfected plans to politicise and impose one of the candidates over others.
He said,”there is a plan to appoint a particular contestant who is the anointed candidate of an APC stalwart in the state as the new monarch.
“There are seven contestants in the race, the community expects that the process of selection of the new Oba should be free and fair. Politicizing the process will create chaos in the community”.
They vowed to resist imposition under any guise.
Responding to their allegation, the Local Government Chairman, Ifedore, Hon. Alex Oladimeji assured them that the government will follow due process in all matters that relates to the election of a new monarch for the community.
Oladimeji who restated the need for all parties to come together and form a united front said he was happy at the youths peaceful conduct.
