No fewer than 156 persons died in different as road crashes in Ondo state between January and October this year, the Ondo State Command of the Federal Road Safety Corps has said
According to the Sector Commander of the FRSC in the state, Mr Rotimi Adeleye, the crashes occurred at some black spots across the 18 local government areas of the state.
He noted that casualties were recorded in 251 crashes in the period under review.
Some notable black spots in the state, according to him include the Ore junction, Ajebandele, Oke Alabojuto in Ikare, Oka Akoko, Epinmi Akoko, Owo junction, Onyearugbulem junction along the Akure-Owo Expressway, and the Akure-Ondo Road.
Adeleye said 104 crashes and 65 deaths were recorded in the first quarter; 68 crashes and 47 deaths in the second quarter; while 79 accidents and 44 deaths were recorded in the third quarter of this year.
The sector commander stated that the command is planning to establish two camps, where officers and men would be posted to as part of the measures to prevent road crashes during the approaching Yuletide.
