Many residents of Akure are complaining over non functional street lights in the night.

They said the street lights along Ondo Road, Oba Adesida, Alagbaka are not working.
They noted that robbers could take advantage of the situation to dispossess motorists of their belongings.
Some of them in their messages on Facebook urged government to act fast.
For Mr. Emmanuel Oriowo, “Ondo State capital in darkness at night till dawn. For weeks now, street lights are not coming up to light up the city on major roads, from Alagbaka to Arakale, Ondo road.
“This is not good enough for the status of a State capital in this age of so much global advancement and a demeaning impression of the state for first time visitors and investors.
“This has no political undertones, but a sincere and celestial observation of a city I have watched developing at its pace in the last decade or more.
“The yuletide is here and the city is expected to wear a new look and attract more energy to make both residents, visitors and natives of the state have a pride of their place of abode. Just like the mantra adopted with the logo of the state “a place of pride”.
Another resident, Wale Akintunde urged the state government to do the needful.
He said, ” I am sad that everywhere is always dark in the night. It is dangerous for us. Robbers can take advantage of the situation to rob.”
