President Muhammadu Buhari met with the leadership of the Academic staff Union of Universities in the Presidential villa on Thursday.
The meeting is coming amid heightened tension between the federal government and university lecturers over the Integrated Payroll and Personnel Information System.
The Academic Staff union of Universities has refused to bow to government pressure and have also designed a unique prototype of the IPPIS known as the university transparency and accountability solution as a preferable means of paying lecturers salaries.
The federal government had threatened to stop paying salaries if lecturers refuse to enroll in the salary payment scheme and the academic staff union have called the bluff of the government and threatened a strike action.
But ASUU leaders after the meeting refused to address journalists.
