Sotitobire: Four remanded for killing police officer, burning and looting of church

A Chief Magistrate Court sitting in Akure over alleged murder, arson, malicious damage and stealing at Sotitobire Church in Akure, the Ondo State capital has remanded four persons at Olokuta Correctional Service facility by 

The suspects Yusuf Owa, Adebayo Adeyemi, Adeleye Omowumi, and Adu Babatunde are facing a six -count-charge of felony, conspiracy , murder, arson and stealing.

They are to join at olokuta, 14 people earlier remanded in connection with the burning of Sotitobire church.

The four accused  were also alleged to have killed one Sergeant Sheidu Ocheopo by smashing him to death with tyre rim and stones at Sotitobire Church, Oshinle, while performing his lawful duty.

The Magistrate, Mrs Charity Adeyanju, ordered the remand of the defendants, pending when the motion on notice is heared and adjourned the case till Monday.

 The founder of Sotitobire Church, prophet Alfa Babatunde is expected to appear in court on Friday for the resumed hearing of his case on alleged kidnapping of one year old boy, Gold Kolawole who got missing in his church in November 2019.

The prophet was accused of conspiring with five other suspects to kidnap and aid the kidnap a one year old gold eninlalopuwa kolawole at the sotitobire praising chapel in akure

The offences are said to be punishable under section five of ondo state anti-kidnapping and anti-abduction law 2010.

Other suspects are Omodara Olayinka, Margaret Oyebola, Grace Ogunjobi, Egunjobi Motunrayo, Esther kayode and Peter Anjorin

One of the suspects Peter Anjorin was accused of destroying and secretly taking away vital evidence that could have aided speedy investigation in respect of the missing gold kolawole an offense contrary and punishable under section 123 of the criminal code and cap 37 laws of ondo state
