The management of Rufus Giwa Polytechnic, Owo, Ondo State (RUGIPO) has expelled nine students and suspended eighteen others after they were found guilty of indulging in varying forms of examination malpractice and other misconducts.
This was contained in a Press Release issued and signed by the institution’s Director of Public Relations and Publicity.
The decision, according to the statementwas taken at the special meeting of the Board of Studies.
Also, 18 other students were suspended for varying misconducts including bringing in and using incriminating materials, copying from each other and for assaulting invigilators.
The names of the expelled students are Abiodun Joshua (Department of Electronic Electrical Technology) Dada Damilola Olumide (Science Laboratory Technology), Oseni Toyin Nurat (Banking & Finance), Oladunni Olajide (Public Administration), Authority Patience Blessing (Banking & Finance) and Akinyemi Ayomide Omonike (Science Laboratory Technology).
Others are: Aworinde Temidayo (Science Laboratory Technology), Salami Bankole Desmond (Science Laboratory Technology) and Oladejo Funmilayo Folasade (Science Laboratory Technology)”.
The statement added, “As the expelled students have ceased to be bona-fide students of the polytechnic so all Heads of Department of the affected students, the entire Polytechnic community and the general public were charged to take immediate notice of the decisions and ensure strict compliance”.
