The Pan Yoruba Socio-Cultural group, Adenifere has codemned the killing of a trado-medical practitioner and founder of Oko Oloyun Worldwide, Alhaji Fatai Yusuf, popularly called Oko Oloyun by unknown gunmen.
The group described the murder as the continued sad and long story of insecurity in Yorubaland.
Oko Oloyun was killed by some hoodlums around Akeroro community on the Abeokuta/Igbo-Ora/Iseyin Road on Thursday.
The deceased, travelling in a convoy of two cars with some of his aides, was allegedly ambushed and shot dead by the unidentified assailants.
In a statement by Afenifere’s National Publicity Secretary, Yinka Odumakin, the group said smarting from the abandoned investigation into the July 12, 2019 murder of Mrs Funke Olakunri, the police shouldn’t attempt another cover-up of Oko Oloyun’s death.
The group said, “We say this because we have noted the rushed statement of the police suggesting a desperate attempt to divert attention from the fact that the Eruwa-Igbo Ora route on where he was killed is a notorious axis of Fulani bandits.
“The police rushing to the press unprofessionally to say he discovered fraud in his office before the incident without carrying out any investigation may foreclose other possible leads. Every life of a human being is precious to us and this is another test to the capacity of the Nigerian police seriously challenged at the moment.”
Meanwhile, the companies owned by the deceased in the Igando axis of Lagos State were on Friday locked after the incident.
One of our correspondents who visited the late herbal doctor’s relaxation centre, health firm among others in the area observed the calm ambience as entrances to the business outfits were locked.

A resident in the neighbourhood, Akin Saliyu, said it was a sad day for residents of the area because of the murder of the herbal practitioner whom he described as ‘a good man.’
