Former militants in Ondo state on Tuesday protested against the federal government’s alleged inability to incorporate them into the amnesty programme.
Armed with placards with various inscriptions, the protesters stormed the office of the Ondo state governor, to express their grievances.
They faulted government’s insensitivity to their plight, claiming it has failed to facilitate the amnesty programme, after laying down their arms.
Some of the inscriptions on their placards read, “Three years after surrendering our arms, government has failed us” We will go back to the creeks, if government fails to give us amnesty” and “No amnesty, no peace,”.
The Ondo state government had declared Amnesty for the Armed youths on the 9th of November, 2017.
Almost three years after the state government declared amnesty , the ex- militants, have not been enrolled.
