The current two-week warning strike embarked upon by the Academic Staff Union of Universities has been declared as illegal by the federal government.
The government accused the lecturers of not following laid down rules before embarking on the industrial action.
The Minister of Labour and Employment, Dr Chris Ngige, made government’s position known in Abuja after the Federal Executive Council meeting on Wednesday.
According to him, ASUU did not give the government the “mandatory notice” required of a union before embarking on strike.
