The Chief Medical Director, University of Medical Sciences Teaching Hospital, Dr Oluwole Ige has commended Governor Akeredolu for steps taken so far to curb the spread of Coronavirus to the state.
Ige gave the commendation while addressing reporters in Ondo Town on Tuesday.
According to him, the steps were not carried out to make people suffer but to ensure people observe social distancing.
He urged people of the state observe precautionary measures like regularly washing of hands, use of hand sanitisers, use of nose guards among others.
Ondo state is one of the states in Nigeria that has not recorded any case of COVID-19.
This did not stop the state government from taking steps to curb the spread of the virus.
These include banning of public and political gatherings, as well as closing down schools.
The state governor, directed civil servants from grade levels 1 to 12, to stay at home.
Ige said, ‘As at now, we don’t have any confirmed case of COVID 19. All the steps taken so far by the government should be commended.
“The government is determined to the disease from spreading to the state”
He noted that those who are on essential duties are working round the clock to attend to patients who are suffering from other diseases.
