A four bedroom flat of a chieftain of the All Progressives Congress, Hon Muyiwa Jogbodo in Iju, Akure North Local Government Area of Ondo state was razed on Sunday.
All the rooms, including the study, kitchen, the pantry, etc were consumed by the mysterious fire.
The shredded roofing sheets littered the entire surroundings of the house located on Alasoadura Street, Iju.
The victim, Mr. Jogbodo and his wife were in tears as they bemoaned the loss of everything they worked for in their lives.
He pleaded with the State government to come to his aid adding that he did not know where to restart the journey.
“We are disturbed and concerned about this fire incident. I left here yesterday afternoon with my wife only to attend to a matter in Akure.
“A few minutes after, I received a phone call that our house has been gutted by fire. We rushed down to meet the complete house, all the rooms burnt simultaneously, leaving only the walls.
“Not a single one of them was spared. The fire lasted about fifteen minutes. There was total power outage yesterday and there was no gas explosion. So, where could it have come from? The way it happened gives room for suspicion.”.
Mr. Jogbodo is the Councillorship candidate of APC, Ayetoro Ward 3, Iju for the Local Government polls, which should have been held last Saturday but postponed due to the COVID-19 pandemic that is ravaging the world.
