The Ondo state Police Command has faulted the alleged attack on five communities in the state by herdsmen.
Thee state Commissioner of Police, Mr Undie Adie, disagreed with the communities, accusing the villagers of raising a false alarm.
Residents of five communities in Akure North local government had on Monday raised alarm over herders invasion
The affected villages are Adejubu, Adewole, Olotin, Olondan and Jojo, where many inhabitants escaped for their lives when the herders invaded on Sunday night as a reprisal attack after the farmers prevented from grazing on their farmland.
The police commissioner added that there was no crisis as alleged by the villagers.He added, “When we got the information, our men quickly moved to the villages, only to get there and discovered that it was a false alarm. We did not find out about any crisis there,”
However, the Head of Apedu Community, Chief Adegoroye Oro expressed his fear and displeasure with constant invasion of their communities by the herdsmen on both day and night grazing.
This, he said had led to malicious destruction of their farm crops.
Chief Adegoroye however appealed to the government to save the communities from future attacks and continuous damage of their Crops.
In the meantime, Ondo State Governor, Oluwarotimi Akeredolu has ordered a full scale investigation into the alleged invasion of five villages in Akure North Local Government Area of the state by Fulani herdsmen.
While on the spot assessment of the scene alongside security agents on Monday, the Senior Special Assistant to the Governor on Security Matters, Alhaji Jimoh Dojumo, said Akeredolu’s order of the full-scale investigation into the incident was to address problem with the aim of preventing recurrence.
