COVID- 19: Ondo NSCDC nabs Five northerners for violating lockdown order

The Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC), Ondo State Command has arrested five travellers who violated the border closure order as directed by the State Government.

The  State Commandant of the NSCDC, Philip Ayuba while handling over the travellers to the Ondo State Taskforce on Covid-19, said  the travellers who are Northerners were apprehended through sustained intelligence.


While being interrogated, the travellers confessed that 10 of  them left Sokoto State and alighted in Ibadan,  Oyo State capital.

 Two of them however joined a heavy duty vehicle to Ondo State and were accommodated by  3 of their friends who reside in Oba-ile, Akure.


This was contained in a Statement signed by the Command’s  Spokesman, Olufemi Omole on Monday

The Special Assistant to the State Governor on Security matters, Alhaji Jimoh Dojumo who received the travellers,  directed that they should be subjected to COVID- 19 test.
On his part, Ayuba said the Command will continue to work relentlessly to enforce the  border closure order. 


He further warned drivers of  heavy duty vehicles conveying essential materials to desist from carrying  passengers into the State .


He added that those caught in the act would be made to face the full weight of the law.
