Ondo Guber: No automatic ticket for Agboola Ajayi – PDP

The People’s Democratic Party (PDP) in Ondo State says its door is widely open to welcome the incumbent Deputy Governor of the state, Mr Agboola Ajayi into its fold.

The party noted that it is willing to work with different politicians to unseat Governor Oluwarotimi Akeredolu in the forthcoming gubernatorial election in the state.

Already, the Independent National Electoral Commission has fixed
October 10 for the conduct of governorship election in the state.

The PDP however, denied striking any “deal” with Agboola Ajayi.

The party assured all governorship aspirants and their supporters that the PDP does not have a preferred candidate.

According to a statement signed by the party’s Director of Media and Publicity, PDP will provide a level playing field for all or intending aspirants.

Unconfirmed report was rife
that the PDP had struck a deal with Agboola Ajayi to grant him waiver and automatic governorship ticket to contest the election.

The statement added, “We acknowledge the right of Agboola Ajayi and all members of the public willing to join its fold and they would be accorded a warm reception to work together to liberate the state from what it called “maladministration of the APC government”.

“The leadership of the Peoples Democratic Party in Ondo state wishes to inform the general public and all members of the party that the alleged “deal” supposedly struck by the incumbent Deputy Governor of the state, Hon. Agboola Ajayi (as alluded to by an online publication) is false and non existence ,” Ondo PDP said.

“The party acknowledges the right of His Excellency Mr. Agboola Ajayi and of all members of the public wishing to join our fold and would accord all intending members and aspirants a warm reception as we work together to liberate our dear state from the maladministration of the APC government.”, the statement read.
