Ondo guber: ‘Agboola ‘ll not resign to contest for Governor under PDP’

Following the planned move by the Ondo state Deputy Governor, Agboola Ajayi to defect to the People’s Democratic Party(PDP), there are indications that he may not resign his position, after leaving the camp of the All Progressives Congress (APC).

He is expected to contest for the governorship ticket under the PDP in the party’s primary election slated forJuly 22.

Already, eight members of the state House of assembly may likely move with him to the PDP.

Spokesman of the Deputy Governor, Babatope Okeowo, said his boss does not need to resign his appointment before contesting for the governorship election.

He described the story that his boss would resign this week as untrue

According to him, Agboola could contest whether in the PDP or the APC without resigning his appointment.

Relationship between Hon Agboola and Governor Oluwarotimi Akeredolu has since gone sour over issues of trust and betrayal.

It was gathered that Agboola is banking on his wealth of experience to win the PDP ticket ahead of other aspirants.

His planned return to the PDP has sent shivers down the spines of many aspirants in the PDP.

Political observes believed that the coming of Agboola to the PDP “demonstrated that the APC has collapsed in the state.
