Ahead of the 2020 governorship election in Ondo State, a prominent businessman and politician based in the United Kingdom has called on members of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP across the state not to allow political interests disintegrate the party as it prepares for the governorship primary in the state.
Adams who spoke through his movement, Oba-Ilukan Movement (OIM)in a press release made available to journalists on Tuesday jointly signed by its coordinators, Asiwaju Yinka Richards and Comrade Ropo Bailey, said the party has a chance of winning the election and should not allow personal interest to allow it slip away.
Oba-Ilukan Movement, a socio-political group established to promote good governance in Ondo State via leadership trainings, engagement with the youths by providing platform fo leadership development and playing a major role in the emergence of good leaders into political offices has its membership across the 18 local government areas of Ondo State with its political base in the northern senatorial district of the state.
The group said the government of APC in Ondo State has not been in the interest of the good people of Ondo State adding that the agony and suffering unleashed on the people is so much that the people are now crying out to the opposition parties to come to their aid , the reason the group is saddled with the responsibility of mobilizing supports for the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP.
The statement reads: ‘’However, it is obvious that a divided opposition cannot wrestle down the ruling party in the governorship election. There is need for us to go into the election more united than we currently are. Unlike ever before, I can tell you that the desire of those of us in the opposition is to see APC out of the government house in 2021.’’
The group, Oba-Ilukan Movement is also scheduled to meet with the national chairman of the party, Chief Uche Secondus in few days time to discuss issues bothering on Edo and Ondo governorship elections.
