Ondo state has recorded eight fresh cases of COVID- 29, bringing the total number of cases to 38 in one week.
This was part of the daily figures released by Nigeria Centre For Disease Control( NCDC) last night.
Ondo now has 81 confirmed cases of the virus since the outbreak of the pandemic.
The virus has spread across 11 local government areas in Ondo state with Akure the state capital topping the list with 35 cases.
Governor Rotimi Akeredolu had on Monday said daily figure recorded in the state is frightening and embarrassing and calls for urgent step.
He said, “It is very important to note that the spread is now in all the four corners of our state. It has found habitat in all the three senatorial districts.
“From the Northern district through the central to the southern district, the raw facts stare us in the face that as individuals and communities, our efforts are not enough to protect us and our loved ones. Indeed we are facing the consequences of neglect and self-denial.
“From what we have seen so far, the danger and threats are far from being over and the number of our citizens infected may soar higher unless something drastic is done”.
