Unknown gunmen have killed the National Secretary of the Association of Community Pharmacists of Nigeria, ACPN, Pharmacist, Sunday Ike.
The ugly incident took place at his Pharmacy premises; Suncell Pharmacy Limited, 3 road Avenue, Gwarimpa, Abuja.
His gruesome murder has since thrown ACPN members into mourning.
The Late Ike was an extremely passionate Community Pharmacist who was always professing that Pharmacy profession would be better in Nigeria in his time.
As a way of expressing their grief and show respect to their gruesomely murdered colleague, the association called on all Community Pharmacists in Nigeria to shut down their premises by 7.00pm on Saturday.
The association in a statement issued by its National Chairman, Samuel Adekola called the attention of the federal government and concerned general public to the plights of healthcare providers.
The statement added, Our hearts go out to the family of our departed National Publicity Secretary during this difficult period.
“ACPN wishes to humbly call on President Mohammad Buhari GCFR, Federal and State Governments and all well-meaning Nigerians to come to the aid of Community Pharmacists to curb this growing menace of attacks on our members, as this kind of ugly incidence is becoming one attack too many on Community Pharmacies in Nigeria”
