Breaking : Ondo records 95 new cases of Coronavirus as stakeholders lament

Ondo state has recorded 95 new cases of coronavirus.


This figure is the highest in a day since the outbreak of the pandemic.

This brings the total number of confirmed cases of the disease in the state to eight hundred and sixty five with one hundred and thirty nine recoveries and twenty one deaths.

The sunshine state which used to be down the ladder of COVID-19 cases in Nigeria is now seen moving towards the top.

COVID- 19 has continued to spread like a wildfire in the state as the state Infectious Disease Hospital (IDH) is now overwhelmed 


Government doctors  working at the IDH have also withdrawn their services.


This figure recorded in Ondo state was contained in a statement released by the NCDC on Thursday.


Ondo came second after Lagos which recorded 156 new cases.


In the meantime, stakeholders in the health sector are lamenting the surge in the cases of Coronavirus in the state.


Many including the Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ) want government to take proactive steps to tackle the spread of the disease.


They urged the state government to declare total lockdown in the state for two weeks.


However the figures released by NCDC show that  595 new cases are reported from 24 states.


Lagos (156), Ondo (95), Rivers (53), Abia (43), Oyo (38), Enugu (29), Edo (24), FCT(23), Kaduna (20), Akwa Ibom (17), Anambra (17), Osun (17), Ogun (14), Kano (13), Imo (11), Delta (6), Ekiti (5), Gombe (4), Plateau (4), Cross River (2), Adamawa (1), Bauchi (1), Jigawa (1), Yobe (1),” the NCDC said.
