Why and How lucky Aiyedatiwa emerged as Akeredolu’s running mate
More facts have emerged why Governor Rotimi Akeredolu picked Lucky Orimisan Aiyedatiwa as his running mate for the October 10 Governorship poll.
Although, the choice of Aiyedatiwa didn’t go down well with some members of the party, while the Governor said he was picked after wild consultations with party members.
Thenewstrack.com gathered that Aiyedatiwa was picked because he was an aborigine member of the party who has been consistent and dedicated to the course of the party.
Aiyedatiwa who has been in the Progressive camp since the Action Congress of Nigeria days was compensated for his loyalty to the party.
It was also gathered that his choice was a compensation for not being able to secure the Ondo south senatorial ticket.
He was already penciled down by Governor Rotimi Akeredolu for the plum job but the national leadership of the party led by Adams Oshiomole forced Yele Omogunwa on the Governor.
This dashed his hope of contesting in the 2019 General election.
Aiyedatiwa who was Ondo State representative on the Governing Board of NDDC could only spend only five months on the board before it was dissolved
But his name was re-presented by Governor Rotimi Akeredolu for reconsideration
This however didn’t see the light of the day as his name didn’t appear on the list of new appointees.
Another name scaled through despite the efforts put in by the Governor.
It was gathered that the governor made his mind to compensate him with juicy appointment after two failed attempts to fix him up.
Governor Akeredolu while unveiling him at a function in Akure, said “This person has been with us since the beginning of this political journey in 2012.
In arriving at this choice, some important factors assisted the leaders of this great party. We have decided to sever ties with mediocrity and treachery.
” A candidate with verifiable credentials and pedigree has been chosen to complete the last part of the gubernatorial race.
“We may not have chosen a saint and the best, but let it not be said that we, either wittingly or otherwise, settle for an avowed hater of human beings and good things, an enemy of his own people and a serial forger. We owe our people the duty of care in this regard”
