More facts have emerged why Ondo State Deputy Governor, Agboola Ajayi is planning to contest the October 10 gubernatorial election on the platform of the Zenith Labour Party (ZLP).
Mr. Ajayi came second in the People’s Democratic Party primary election conducted in July.
He joined the PDP thirty days to the Primaries.
Ajayi polled 657 to emerge second after Eyitayo Jegede who scored 888 votes
Thenewstrack.com gathered that the Deputy Governor is not happy for not being considered to serve as Eyitayo Jegede’s running mate for the October 10 Governorship election.
A reliable source told our correspondent that he was bittered by the way his name was not considered for the deputy governor slot.
The source said having come second in a keenly contested primaries, the party leadership should have considered him for the slot.
It was also gathered that Mr. Ajayi may want to play a spoiler role by contesting on another platform.
By contesting, the Deputy Governor believes that such move will deplete both APC and PDP camps.
The source further said Mr. Ajayi is optimistic that his supporters in APC and PDP will move with him to his new party.
Already, the Deputy Governor has met with former Governor Olusegun Mimiko to ensure he contests under ZLP.
The name of the Deputy Governor is expected to be substituted for the ZLP Governorship candidate before the August deadline for substitution by INEC.
The Source also hinted that the Deputy Governor was not happy with the conspiracy against him during the primaries.
