The governorship candidate of the people’s Democratic party (PDP) in Ondo state, Eyitayo Jegede has urged the Inspector General of Police, Mohammed Adamu to call Governor Rotimi Akeredolu and his supporters to order.
Jegede’s call is coming on the heels on Wednesday attack on his convoy by supporters of Governor Akeredolu in Oba- Akoko area of the state.
He described the attack on his campaign train by suspected APC thugs as a clear attempt of assassination on his life and his supporters ahead of October 10 election.
Addressing newsmen in Akure ,the state Capital,Jegede noted that firing bullets sporadically at his vehicles by the suspected political thugs confirmed insinuation that some elements want to murder him before the election day.
The PDP candidate who explained that he had reported various attacks on him and his supporters to the DSS and the state Commissioner of police, expressing displeasure that nobody had been arrested as a result of attacks on his team.
He called on the inspector General Of Police and the DSS to commence a full scale investigation into the incident.
Jegede noted that the mayhem shows the Demonstration of the view of the Ruling APC structure to cause violence
“The PDP remained Focus,their plan is to instill fear into people not to come out and vote.
The incident halt my campaign train as we could not proceed to Akungba to continue campaign to avoid any bloodshed”
Jegede however noted that he had spoken with Governor Rotimi Akeredolu on telephone to complain about the attack by the APC members, pointing out that the governor had promised to call his supporters to order.
He added that 15 campaign vehicles were vandalised in the attack
