In a bid to promote healthy living among children and adolescents, a Corps member with the state code OD/19C/0928, Arogbonlo Israel, has donated a completed toilet facility to St. Theresa Primary School, Akure, Ondo Capital city.
The Personal Community Development (CDS) project which is a three-room restroom will be of use to the school which has been lacking a suitable toilet facilities for years.
The Kogi-born Corps member, who expressed appreciation to the National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) and other organisations who partnered with him to execute the project, revealed that the project was borne out of his “empathy and zeal for societal development”.
The NYSC State Coordinator, Mrs Grace Akpabio represented by Mr Oyebade, while inaugurating the project in Akure on Tuesday, commended the Corps member for his dedication to service and donation to the community.
In her words, “the scheme is still standing today because of the commitment of the youths in Nigeria to embark on various projects, adding that the community development service is a cardinal point in the scheme of the corps.
The school headmistress, Mrs Adeboyeje Morenike thanked the Corps member for the project, stating that the school has since been longing for such a facility as they often make use of the bush whenever there was a need to powder their nose.
While pouring encomium on Mr Israel, a parent whose children attend the school, could not hide her joy on the good gesture as she spoke with continuous eulogy and prayers for the Corps member.
Recall that, in March, Arogbonlo Israel joined the fight against COVID-19 with a donation of his monthly stipend to the vulnerable in Ondo state. The donation was received by the State Governor, Arakunrin Oluwarotimi Akeredolu (SAN) in courtesy of the NYSC state coordinator, Mrs Grace Akpabio among other top government officers.
A month after, Arogbonlo Israel donated 100 facemasks to the National Union of Road Transporters (NURTW) in Ondo. The donation was received by the chairman of the union, Mr. Jacob Adebo (Idajo).
Also, Arogbonlo Israel reached out to not less than 50 orphans in the state while cerebrating his birthday. Gift items were donated to Hope orphanage situated at Shagari Estate in the State capital, Akure.
In the like manner, Corps member Israel had organized a Free CBT training exercise for JAMB students in Oyemekun axis of Akure, Ondo to prepare them for 2020 UTME. With a coverage of over 50 candidates reached through the intervention programme which was sacrifice of his February salary to give the beneficiaries the desired training.
Those who graced the Commissioning were; representatives of the Hon. Commissioner for Youths and Sports, Ondo State, Barr. Tunde Ogunbare PRO, Nigeria Correctional service Ondo State represented by Mr. Adeniji Olamojuba, Chief Executive Officer Kids and Teens Resource Center Mr Martins Mary Falana, Staffs of the Ondo state NYSC and Akure South Local Government, Corps Members, and the beneficiaries.
