No hope for resumption as FG, ASUU talks end in a deadlock
For the third time in the last few weeks, the meeting between the federal government and striking university teachers’ union has ended in a stalemate.
The meeting which started at about half past four ended some minutes ago with no deal between both parties.
The main issue still in contention is the mode of payment of the university teachers’ salaries.
While government insists all its staff must be enrolled on the Integrated Personnel Payroll Information System, IPPIS, the University teachers say the IPPIS cannot take care of the peculiarities in the university system.
Instead, they have developed a payroll system tagged University Transparent Accounting System, UTAS.
