Men of the Ondo State Security Network Agency otherwise known as Amotekun Corps have impounded over 50 motorcycles who defied Governor Oluwarotimi Akeredolu’s order that motorcycle operators known as Okada should operate within the hours of 6 am to 6 pm.
Akeredolu issued the restriction order to curb rising cases of armed robbery within Akure and environs.
Leaders of the okada riders at a meeting on Tuesday promised to start obeying the restriction order from Wednesday.
State Commander of Amotekun Corps, Mr. Adeleye Olatunji, said they began impounding motorcycles of defaulters who were found carrying passengers after the stipulated time.
“We have gone round with megaphone on our patrol vehicles to remind them to stop working beyond 6 pm. But most of them were adamant and we have no choice but to start impounding their motorcycles.
