‘No life lost in Akure masquerade stabbing’

No life was lost in Sunday’s clash at Oja- Oba area of Akure,Ondo State capital.
This is according to a statement issued from the palace of the Deji of Akure, Oba Aladetoyinbo Aladelusi

It was reported  that one person who is a follower of masquerade was reportedly stabbed by an Igbo trader and feared dead.

But  the Chief Press secretary to the Deji of Akure, Chief Michael Adeyeye said  no life was lost in the incident.

Adeyeye who spoke on behalf of the monarch said: “I am not aware that any life was lost. An Igbo man stabbed an Akure man, while the Akure people re-enforced themselves at Odopetu community.

“The man was injured and has been taken to a nearby clinic. The security men have handled the situation to restore peace.

 “At this period, the Kabiyesi has finished every celebration. These fallout celebrations could be done without causing rancour or unrest in the town,” Adeyeye said.
