Journalists have been charged to use their investigative skill to unravel predicaments of the land and profer solutions appropriately.
The Zonal Pastor of Redemeed Christian Church of God RCCG, Higher Glory cathedral, Olufoam Akure, Dr Michael Gbala, gave the charge during the thanksgiving service to mark the begining of the 2020 Press Week Celebration of the Nigeria Union of Journalists, NUJ, Ondo state Council.
Gbala spoke on the topic, “Journalism and Nation’s Building”.
According to him, Nigeria needs righteous and truthful people at this trying period to overcome various security, health and economic challenges.
He also tasked media professionals to make righteousness and truthfulness their major watchwords in discharging their difficult tasks of informing, enlightening and entertaining the public.
He appealed to the the media to be in the forefront of enlightening the public on the looming second wave of the deadly COVID-19 pandemic.
In a remarks, the Ondo state Chairman of NUJ, Comrade Adetona Aderoboye, said this year is an unusual year, with COVID-19 PANDEMIC and EndSars, hence the need for members to roll out drums to celebrate this year’s press week.
The press week Celebration will continue tomorrow Monday with humanitarian visitation to Ondo state orphanage in Akure.
