A group, the integrity network says it has uncovered plans to malign the character of the rector of Rufus Giwa Polytechnic Owo ,Gani Ogundahunsi through malicious publication.
The group noted that the publication which is sponsored by some faceless groups is designed to destroy the reputation of the Rector who has brought rapid development to the polytechnic.
In the said publication, it was mentioned that the Rector approved the transfer of 28 million naira to the personal account of the Council Chairman Mr. Banji Alabi for the purchase of his own car without recourse to due process.
It was also mentioned that the Rector bought ” FAIRLY USED / TOKUNBO ” vehicle for the Principal Officers almost at the rate of new ones, knowing fully that Government policy does not support the purchase of second hand/ fairly used materials.
The publication also accused the Rector of involving himself in employment racketeering with over 500 new staff employed despite the financial crisis in the institution. How do we pay all these people?, he queried.
The issue of retirement age of the Rector was also revealed with allegation that he has ran foul of 5 years single term approved by our Regulatory Body, NBTE.
But the group, in a swift reaction, said the allegations are baseless.
According to a statement issued by the group, the Rector has not engaged in any financial misappropriation.
The statement reads, “The Rector didn’t approve the transfer of 28 million naira to the personal account of the Council Chairman, Mr. Banji Alabi for the purchase of his own car without recourse to due process. The records are there for everybody to see.
“The allegation of purchase of second hand vehicles at the rate of new vehicles was also a mere rumour
“The Rector was not also involved in any employment racketeering . These are liars coming from the pit of hell”, the statement stated.
