“President Buhari values Cows than human lives”

Reactions are trailing President Muhammudu Buhari’s statement on the order given by Governor Rotimi Akeredolu to herders to vacate government’s forest reserves in the next seven days.

Some residents of Ondo state who took to the social media to tackle the President, said such statement can only come from a leader who values Cows to human lives.

The Presidency in a statement issued by Presidential spokesman, Garba Shehu stated, “there is little to be said other than to call for restraint on both sides and urge the state government and the leadership of the Fulani communities to continue their dialogue for a good understanding that will bring to an urgent end, the nightmarish security challenges facing the state.

“We want to make it clear that kidnapping, banditry and rustling are crimes, no matter the motive or who is involved. But, to define crime from the nameplates, as a number of commentators have erroneously done- which group they belong to, the language they speak, their geographical location or their faith is atavistic and cruel.

“We need to delink terrorism and crimes from ethnicity, geographical origins and religion—to isolate the criminals who use this interchange of arguments to hinder law enforcement efforts as the only way to deal effectively with them”.

But some Nigerians and residents of the state wondered when the Presidency has become the spokesperson of Fulani herdsmen.

They also asked questions why the  presidency was so quick to react and silent on other burning issues.

One of the respondents on WhatsApp, identified as Tunde said the action of the presidency is s pointer to the fact we have a president that is highly insensitive to the plights of the people.

He said, “The president has again demonstrated that he values cows than human lives “
