Angry relatives beat up nurses at FMC, Owo as management begins investigation

 

Relatives of some patients have beaten up two nurses at the Federal Medical  Center, Owo, Ondo State.


The reason for this action by the relatives of the patients could not be ascertained as at the time of filing this report.


Our correspondent however gathered that the Nurses were beaten for the death of their patient that they brought to the hospital in critical condition. 


In the meantime, the Chief Medical Director of the hospital, Liasu Ahmed confirmed this development 


He however said the hospital has not been shutdown contrary to the news making the rounds.


Dr Ahmed said an investigation has been launched into the attack.


He said, “It is true that some of our nurses were attacked by the relatives of some patients. We are currently investigating the matter.


“Contrary to fake news spreading around, we have not shutdown out hospital. We will ensure that our staff are well protected”.


He added that the police  responded early to douse the tension.

An emergency meeting is expected to hold in the hospital by the nurses on Monday.
