A farmer identified as Israel Kumuyi ha been remanded by an Ondo State Magistrate Court for allegedly raping a 10-year-old girl, Esther Friday, to death at Akinfosile town in the Okitipupa Local Government Area of the state
Kumuyi, who is 27-year-old was apprehended by the state police command in February.
The prosecutor, Inspector Uloh Goodluck, said the offence contravened sections 316, 319(1) of the Criminal Code Cap 37, Vol. 1 Laws of the Ondo State of Nigeria 2006.
The prosecutor claimed that Ikumuyi lured the victim into his room with the promise of giving her N100 and forcefully had sex with her while his family was searching for her.
The defendant pleaded not guilty to the offence but his plea was not taken.
The presiding magistrate, Tope Aladejana, ordered that the defendant should be remanded in Owo Correctional Service Centre pending the outcome of the advice of the Director of Public Prosecution. He adjourned the case till May 3, 2021 for mention.
