Governor Rotimi Akeredolu has been commended by members and leadership of the Nigerian Union of Allied Health Professionals, (NUAHP), Ondo State chapter for appointing one of them, Pharmacist Folukemi Aladenola as the Permanent Secretary, Ministry of Health.
This is the first time that a non-medical doctor will attain such an enviable height in the state.
The union expressed delight over the emergence of the first member of the union, and by extension, first member of the Joint Health Sector Unions (JOHESU), to be so appointed in such capacity at the Ondo State Ministry of Health.
NUAHP comprises of Medical Laboratory Scientists, Optometrists, Physiotherapists, Pharmacists, Health Information Managers/Officers, Dieticians and Radiographers among others.
According to a Statement issued in Akure by the State Chairman of the Union, Prince Adedire Adeyinka, the appointment was a round peg in round hole.
The union described Governor Akeredolu as a trailblazer and man of history with the appointment of Pharmacist Aladenola.
The chairman congratulated the new permanent Secretary and expressed deep appreciation of the Union’s members to Governor Akeredolu for considering one of them worthy of such task.
Prince Adedire affirmed that the heroic experience, commitment to excellence and the capacity of the new Permanent Secretary will benefit the present administration of Akeredolu, the health Sector and the good people of Ondo State in general.
The NUAHP Chairman expressed the confidence in the ability and capacity of Aladenola to deliver on her huge responsibility, urging all the stakeholders to rally round her in order to achieve the set goals.
