Unknown gunmen have abducted a former Head of the Department of Mechanical Engineering, Ambrose Alli University, Ekpoma, Prof. Osadolor Odia.
Thenewstrack gathered that the university don was said to be on his way to his farm at Egoro, Ekpoma, on Thursday, before he was accosted by the gunmen, who whisked him away.
The news of his abduction has since thrown the university community into panic
A source in the university confirmed the abduction of Prof Osadolor Odia on his way to his farm.
According to the source, the kidnappers have already made contact with the family of the professor and are demanding N18m ransom.
Spokesperson of the university, Edward Aihevba, said he received the news of Odia’s abduction as general information.
He added that he had no details of the incident.
Spokesman for the Edo State Police Command, Kontongs Bello, said he was not aware of the incident and promised to contact the Divisional Police Officer in charge of Ekpoma.
