Crisis has erupted In the ancient town of Ikare Akoko in Ondo state as sporadic shooting has continued in the heart of the town over Olokoja of Okoja chieftancy dispute.
The crisis degenerated to the extent that dangerous weapons like guns and cutlasses are being used freely.
It was gathered that only few policemen and soldiers were seen in the town as at 8:15am today to maintain law and order.
Many residents have deserted the town.
A community leader who spoke with our reporter anonymously said all efforts to reach the State Commissioner of Police and the Commanding officer of the Nigeria Army, 32 Artillery Brigade, Akure had not been successful.
He urged Governor Rotimi Akeredolu to prevail on the security operatives to act appropriately to further prevent loss of lives in the commercial town.
