Ikare residents defy curfew order as Govt deploys more security personnel

Many residents of the crisis ridden Ikare Akoko in the Akoko North East Local Government area of Ondo State on Thursday defied the 24 – hour curfew imposed on the  town.

Governor Akeredolu had
had on Wednesday imposed the curfew on the town following crisis that erupted in the ancient community over chieftaincy tussle.

More security men have been deployed
 to the community to enforce the curfew.

But it was gathered that while  places like Jubilee Road, ‘Garage’ Oja Oba, Olukare’s Palace and the Ikare Central Mosque areas were deserted , people were seen at Oyinmo, Okela and Agolo High School areas. carrying out business activities

Women were seen at Oyinmo Quarters, at Owode market engaging in buying and selling activities.

They however  ran away immediately they sighted men of the Nigerian Army enforcing the order.

In some areas,  security agents set up blockades at strategic locations of the town to prevent people from moving about or coming into the town.
