According to a statement issued by the National President of the group, Tayo Oluyi,  leaders and coordinators of the group have been directed not to attend the rally.

The statement reads, “We have information that a group of people have chosen Akure, Ondo State capital, as the location for their rally for the actualization of Yoruba secession from the Nigerian state.

“While we at Oodua Youth Coalition (OYC) are not against this agitation, we hereby make public that none of our members, actors, leaders and coordinators are involved in this.

“We, for the umpteenth time, are assuring the youth of Oduduwa land that their interests are of utmost priority even as we continue to engage the necessary quarters and stakeholders for a better Yoruba nation.
