The Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps, Ondo State Command has arrested three Suspects for their alledged dealings in Petroluem Products suspected to be Automotive Gas Oil (AGO) popularly called Diesel.
The three Suspects named: Adamu Usman (M) aged 25yrars, Usman Mohammed (M) aged 25years, Shuabu Ishiaku (M) aged 21years were arrested on different ocassion at Ore Town in Odigbo Local Government Area in Ondo State on Sunday 11th July, 2021 by the Antivandal Unit of the Command.
Parading the suspects, the State Commandant of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps, Ondo State Command, Hammed Abodunrin, said the command had upscaled its strategies in combating the rising cases of criminal acts through continuous training and re-training of personnel for effective Service delivery and professionalism.
He said, ” Shuabu Ishiaku who hails from Kolere Potiskum Local Government Area in Yobe State was arrested with a long truck with registration number YOBE PKM 321 XA containing 13,200 litres of suspected to be (Automotive Gas Oil) popularly known as Diesel. In his statement, the suspect said the Truck was originally designed to convey Planks of wood but Tanks were constructed underneath for easy conveyance of illegally refined AGO and would be transported to intending buyers at their final destination as directed by their boss named Alhaji Shuiabu Amodu.
“Adamu Usman who hails from Garindanga Putiskum Local Government Area in Yobe State was equally arrested with a long truck with plate number YOBE DTR 354 XA in conveyance of 13,200 litres of suspected illegally refined Petroleum product suspected to be AGO. He confessed that the Truck took off from Ahoada in Rivers State with the aim of discharging the product to intended buyer at Ogere in Ogun State.
“The third Suspect, Usman Mohammed who also hails from the same local government with the second suspect was aprehended while driving of a truck with number plate BAUCHI BAU 68 XR with One Tank attached to the truck containing about 6,600 litres of illegally refined Petroleum product suspected to be Automated Gas Oil (AGO)- Diesel.
“From the point of arrest, we deduced that; there are two(2) Tanks constructed and attached to the Truck but only one Tank was filled with Petroleum product leaving the other one empty.
“Another Truck with the number plate YOBE NNR 206 XA was also impounded at Ore Town while the Suspects took to their heels immediately they sighted the Antivandal Squad. The truck has a Tank attached to it which contains about 6,600 litres of illegally refined Petroleum product suspected to be AGO”
The Commandant reiterated that thourough Investigation is ongoing and at the end of this discreet findings, the suspects would be charged to the Court of competent jurisdiction if found culpable.
He added that the command’s Intelligence Department has commenced a man-hunt operation in order to fish out those Suspects at large.
