Osinbajo, Ooni to grace Owa of Idanre’s 45th Coronation anniversary

Vice President Yemi Osinbajo is one of the eminent Nigerians expected to grace the 45th coronation anniversary of the Owa of Idanre kingdom in Ondo State South West Nigeria.

Also expected are over forty traditional rulers including the Ooni of Ife, Oba Adeyeye, Enitan Ogunwusia while governor Rotimi Akeredolu will be the Chief host.

Addressing a news conference to herald the anniversary, the Chairman  of the anniversary committee, Anthony Omolola, said Idanre is blessed with rich cultural heritage.

The chairman who noted that a week long activities have been lined up for the anniversary, said adequate security will be provided for guests .

Omolola said on Monday, all natives of Idanre Kingdom would converge on Alade where they would begin a rally to Atosin through Odo Ode and would terminate at Opa.
Sports activities include football matches, cross country race and cash awards would be presented to all winners.

The Owa of Idanre, Oba Fredrick Aroloye ascended his ancestors throne in 1976 after his predecessor died at age of 144 years having reigned for 50 years.
According to Dr. Omolola, the anniversary was meant to celebrate the 95-year-old monarch.
He disclosed that N500m is being raced by the natives to fund the the activities of the anniversary and to renovate the palace.

Museum and infrastructure deficit in the kingdom would also be addressed appropriately.

He said the main anniversary which is  slated for Saturday will give people from far and near opportunity to catch a glimpse of the hilly town .

He  urged Ondo State Government to explore all tourist centres in Idanre kingdom with a view to shoring up the revenue generation of the state.
