Ondo organises retreat for political office holders, accounting officers

A three-day retreat organised by the Ondo state government for Political Office Holders and Accounting Officers will kick off on February 3rd at Mydas Hotel, Owo, Ondo State.

The Secretary to the State Government SSG, Princess Oladunni Odu made this known at a news conference in Akure, the state capital.

She said the retreat which will commence on February 3rd will end on 5th February.

The theme of the retreat is “One Administration: Improved Service Delivery will lead to improved Revenue Generation”

She said that “The focus of the retreat is on 5 primary pillars.

“The 5 pillars and descriptions of some of the activities intended to instil the concepts are; Communication and Collaboration – we are One Administration, Resourcefulness & Ingenuity – No money. No problem. Source funding on focus on policy formulation, Operational Efficiency – Execute and implement tasks effectively and efficiently.

” All MDA’s present will be required to give a 10-minute presentation around the following areas: Strengths, Weaknesses, Opportunities and Threats analysis of Ministry, Vision, Mission, Objectives, Strategies, and Action Plans, Compassion & Empathy, Dedication and Determination.

The SSG added that papers would be delivered by resource person such as “Mr Aig Imoukhuede, Chairman, Aig Imoukhuede Foundation; Gabriel Okeowo, Country Director, BudgIT Nigeria; David Wuyep, Technical Advisor and Head of the Programme Management and Result Delivery, Plateau State; Dr Patrick Tolani, Coordinator, Transition Strategy and Implementation Committee; Ms Cecilia Akintomide, Former Secretary of the Board, African Development Bank, Prof. O.J. Para-mallam, mni, Director of Studies, National Institute of Policy and Strategic Studies, (NIPSS), Kuru, among others.

Governor Oluwarotimi Akeredolu,SAN, will be the Keynote Speaker.

The SSG said some key takeaway from the retreat would include that “all critical stakeholders of this administration should be aware of each other’s responsibilities to allow for better synergy and more collaboration.

” All stakeholders should understand, align and key into the vision of the present Administration summarized in the REDEEMED agenda

” Capability of the Political Office Holders and career Senior Management Public Servants would have been developed to proactively engage in strategic thinking and actions around programmes and priorities of the government.

” There will be organic dissemination of the knowledge shared from the retreat to other cadres of government (train the trainer).

” All MDAs have very clear goals and objectives that will make them easily accessible to the general public (thus, there will be effective and continuous citizens engagement)

” The culture of continuity and seamless transition within the system would have been put in place and Political Appointees would have been familiar with fundamental Civil Service Procedures, to ensure effective and efficient service delivery. She added.
