Patient’s  Relative Attacks Doctor in Ondo Hospital

A medical doctor identified as Dr Sayo at the University of Medical Sciences Teaching Hospital, Akure has been attacked by a relative of a patient being treated in the hospital.

Sayo, a Medical officer at Accident and Emergency department was assaulted while discharging his duty.

It was gathered that the relative of the patient attacked the Doctor for not properly attended to the aged patient.

It took the intervention of operatives of Amotekun Corps before Dr. Sayo could be rescued from his attacker.

The President of Association of Resident Doctors, UNIMEDTH, John Matthew condemned the attack and urged the state government to provide adequate security in the hospital.

He lamented, that over 100 doctors have left the hospital leaving only 48 with the burden to deliver.

Matthew also asked the management of the hospital to provide treatment for the doctor that was assaulted.

He urged the state government to boost the welfare of doctors by paying their salaries regularly.
