Ex-FUTA VC’s Death, Prof. Daramola, Rude Shock -Mimiko 

Reactions have continued to trail the death of the former vice chancellor of the Federal University of Technology Akure, FUTA, Prof. Adebiyi Daramola.

The latest reaction is coming from the  former governor of Ondo State, Dr. Olusegun Mimiko.

He described the late VC as  a “rude shock”.

The former VC died at the weekend after a brief illness.

His passage was announced  through a statement signed by the Registrar of the varsity, Mr. Richard Arifalo.

Mimiko, in a message to mourn Prof. Daramola, said the deceased gave all his best, particularly in the development of science, technology, and mathematics education in the country.

His message read, “News of the passing of immediate past Vice-Chancellor of the Federal University of Technology Akure (FUTA), Prof. Adebiyi Daramola, came as a rude shock.

“No doubt, Prof Daramola gave his all to the development of FUTA in particular and the promotion of STEM education in Nigeria, in general.

“My heartfelt condolences to his family and the entire FUTA community. May his soul rest in peace”, he said.

Prof. Daramola, who was the 6th Vice-Chancellor of the school had served in FUTA between May 2012 and May 2017.

He died at the age 64.
