N68bn gratuities: No plan to sue Akeredolu – Pensioners

The Nigeria Union of Pensioners (NUP), Ondo State chapter, has faulted a media report that the union has dragged Governor Rotimi Akeredolu to court over N68 billion accumulated gratuities for local council and state pensioners.

The union described the said report as a blatant lie.

According to a statement issued by the union’s Secretary, Akin Sunday, the union would not resort to court cases.

He said the state chairman of NUP, Mr. Johnson Osunyemi, was quoted out of context in the report.

Sunday added that the union would only dialogue with government over the unpaid gratuities and pensions.

“To set the record straight, Ondo State NUP never said it would sue Governor Oluwarotimi Akeredolu, but that it was the joint decision of the South-West NUP that the union at the zonal level might opt for the option of dragging all the state governors in the zone to court over unpaid pensions and gratuities,” the statement stated.
