Police nab fake military officers in Ondo

Men of the Ondo State Police Command have apprehended two men, Owolabi Abiodun and

Benedict Ifeanyi, for impersonating and parading themselves as soldiers in Army uniform in Akure,  the Ondo state capital.

Abiodun, a 27- year- old student of School of Health Technology Akure, was arrested on the 11th of April when he came to harass and threaten the friend’s landlord and co-tenants following an eviction notice by the landlord.

He was said to have threatened the landlord that he will pay with his life if he dares to evict his friend from the house.

 The case was reported at the police station and the suspect was arrested.

Spokesperson of the state police command, Funmilayo Odunlami, confirmed the arrest of the fake soldier .

She said “Upon the receipt of the information, Policemen were sent to the house to invite Abiodun and his friends.

“Investigation however, revealed that the suspect had been parading himself to be a Soldier in his area”

Odunlami said the suspect confessed to have bought the uniform in an open market because he love the uniform and the profession.

“He however confessed that he was never a Soldier but like the uniform and bought it from an open market.

“He is helping the Police with other information that can help in arresting his cohorts and those involved in the illegal buying and selling of Military uniform” she said.

Odunlami however explained that the other fake soldier was arrested after using the military uniform to dupe an unsuspecting member of the public.

According to her, Ifeanyi who have been parading himself as military officer in his community was contacted by one Miss Joy Tony who was defrauded of the sum of N2m by a Estate agent after paying for five plots of land.
